Beacon echoes architecture of "2001: A Space Odyssey”

The alien allure of OMA's hyper-tech skyscraper parallels the celestial monoliths in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey," which spark humanity's transformation and the genesis of a space civilization. The pyramid-shaped tower would be equally transformative as a new Wonder of the World lighthouse on the southern seaport of Manhattan or as a temple to technology at the epicentre of the first Martian cosmopolis.
