SpaceX speeding the light of human civilization to Mars
SpaceX founder Elon Musk envisions creating ever-expanding flotillas of Starship arks to speed the first waves of explorers to Mars. 10,000 flights, he projects, will give rise to a primeval self-sustaining city of one million human Martians. The leaders of this second foundation for humanity will race to terraform the planet, remaking it in Earth's image, with oceans spreading out across the dunes, under a futuristic masterplan originally sketched out by Robert Zubrin in his tour de force book "The Case for Mars". Geodesic super-domes constructed of silica aerogel and kevlar - rich with oxygen and photosynthetic life - will warm the sanctuaries above the melting point of H2O as these microcosmic Gardens of Eden mark the genesis of inhabited Mars.
