Imperial Temple of Heaven, China
The centuries-old Temple of Heaven complex in Beijing, built around the same time as the Forbidden City palace grounds, was once the site of imperial sacrifices aimed at keeping heaven and earth in balance. UNESCO has recognized its outstanding architecture and art by placing the Temple of Heaven on the World Heritage List.
